A mature game for mature gamers such as myself.

Gee-wiz! It sure has been a little while since I've posted anything, I apologise. I have massive trouble thinking of anything people would be interested in reading, and figure the best thing to do is to just not post, rather then post BOOOORIIING stuff.

With that being said, I'd like to draw your attention here. This is CNN's review on the Nintendo 3ds. Now, before anyone says anything Im not a fan boy, I enjoy the products from apple and Nintendo, as well as Sony and Microplops, so that's not the issue I take with this stupid stupid dude.

My issue is that this review is totally dumb yo'. So heres some dot points duude.
  • He actually says "For hardcore gamers such as myself, who grew up on halo"
  • "It doesn't have the graphics of a ps3"
  • comparing it to an iphone, as a gaming device.
Anyway, you guys watch it and tell me what you think.

Friday, Friday gotta' get down on Friday.

By now you've probably heard the Rebecca black song 'Friday' as have over 65 million other people.
Its truly a terrible song, that much is for sure, but with such terrible lyrics, video and singing can come comedy gold.

Now, I'll be honest, I didn't hear this song for the first time untill about 4 or so days ago. My friend Corrin posted on her facebook "Oh it's 9:19am. Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal." And I thought she was just being crazy old Corrin. wasn't until last Saturday my sister told me about this song, and how bad it really was.

The song is set up in such a way that makes it easy for parody. the video is just ridiculous, the lyrics are beyond bad and her voice is terribly nasaly, Images like this one have been popping up all over the place and god damn are they.

As well as images, a whole mess of video parodies have come out, and I've been soaking them all up like a cat in the sun. I can't seem to get enough of them, so I figure why not share some of my favorites?

1. Brocks Dub: I can't get over this one, I just love it.

2. Slowed down 5x by Rjourno: Imagine listening to this, while laying down in a rain Forrest naked. its the best experience you'll ever have. Also, there's a few other "slowed down 5x" videos, but I make special mention to Rjourno's video, as it really sounds the best.

3. Firday Cover by Matt Mulholland: Its just that good, and you really can't help but to love this guy.

Check those out, and maybe suggest more in the comments!

IN OTHER TOTALLY UNRELATED NEWS.

Rumors suggesting nintendo will brick your 3DS if you use any third party hardware/software to pirate games, seems like it might hold some weight now.
The back of the english 3DS box states
"This product contains technical protection measures. Use of an unauthorised device or any unauthorized technical modification to your Ninteodo 3ds system will render this game and/or your system unplayable."

The key word being here is of course "WILL". It states quite simply in plain as day english - "will render game and or system unplayable".
The back of the DS and Wii boxes say something simular. theres states that if any such tools are used, the system "may" become unusable. So kiddies, hack the wii and DS all you like, but dont touch the 3DS!

In other news, Bonk, Bomberman and Omega Five have all been cancelled. Nothing of value was really lost though, all of those games seemed terrible.

Painted the town gray-blue!

I spent the majority of my day pissing around in town with my friend today. Now, Im not normally one to do the whole "social" thing, but I hadn't left the house in like three fucking weeks unless I had to, so I felt it was time, plus I sort of like my friends. :3

I had been trying to organise something all bloody week, so Danny and I left to stroll around and beat down everyone who looked like a hipster (that last bit was a lie, are you learning yet?).

The weather today was a weird combo of rain, and heat. it wasn't that entirely unpleasant but it was weird being wet and hot at the same time. I normally like this sort of weather though, but when I have to walk around all day in it, it wears on me a bit. Its like when you're cuddling your dog, its all nice and cute and shit, then he head buts your noes, and you refuse to talk to him for a few hours, its exactly like that.

Anyway, Danny and I hit up the usual stores,JB hifi, EB games, ShinTokyo and food places. All dandy fine. I got a Jack Johnson album (SHUT UP IM NOT GAY) from JB for $9.99, so awesome. And I also got this baby.

I mean, look at it. isn't that the most wonderful stuffed toy you've ever had the pleasure to view with your eye holes?

The little bastard cost me $30 dollars and was totally worth every cent. Its pretty big and cute and made of really good quality materiel.

So that as my day, Lunch, buying shit, home. it too five hours but it was fun, Im tired as all hell though now, and I think its time to play some pokemon!

How was your day?

Australian Life is sordid mistress.

As you may very well know, Im Australian.
Australian life is much different then life in other places, for instance. When I mow my lawn, I need to watch out for a few things. These things include, but are not limited to; Wombats, Snakes, Deadly deadly spiders, Kangaroo young and Crocodiles.
Now, my house is in the Suburbs, close to the city of Adelaide, the position of my house allows for these native wild life to roam my back yard like nobody's business, oh and don't even get me started on the koalas that rest on the tin roof of my house.
I'm a reasonable man, much like other Australians my age, so I respectful ask the creatures to leave in my native aboriginal language (as all Australians can speak this). To no avail however I was forced to get out my shot gun, and shoot all of the animals, excluding the Kangaroo I ride to work.
I had a grand barbecue that night with my mates, as we drank Jim bean and watched the AFL.

So kids, the moral of this story is never trust a word I say, because I bullshit a lot.
I'll post a "real" post tomorrow, Im feeling really ill and really shouldn't be on the computer right now.

Gotta' Catch em' All!

First of all I just wan't to say happy saint Patrick's day. Being part irish myself, I felt this was necessary. Hope you all had/have a good one.

Well crap, there goes my promise I made to my self  to Post every day.
Not that anyone gives two craps though, but still I feel like I've just been lazy, playing pokemon and dragon age, forgetting about the blog, letting it slip away. Funnily enough though, I gained two new followers, bringing the total (as of 17th of march) to 37!  So, to the new people who have decided I bring enough quality to the table, I welcome you, its going to be a wild ride.

As I stated above I've been playing the butt off of pokemon. Im about 30 hours in now and im just past the 7th gym. The game has been out for about a week now, and I got mine early. Even so my friend Sara is powering through it so fast its unbelievable, I can't help but to think she's not quite taking in everything, exploring, getting all the hidden items etc etc. Each to their own though, if she's happy doing that, Im happy she's happy.

My Friend Corrin is steadily coming along too, as far as I know she's just past the 5th gym into the 6th town, and has a pretty cool (and somewhat similar) team as I had at that point. She's nicknaming all her pokemon with central European names. I think its cleaver and pretty funny, last time I went with a nickname theme it didn't turn out so well, I ended up reverting to "Sparkly" and "Lezbo face" because im none too imaginative.

I just now realise that out of my friends, Corrin and Sara are really the only ones who play pokemon black & white. I
know other people who do, but none I would consider friends. isn't that strange?

Anyway, as far as my progress goes. Its going steady. I just beat the 7th gym a little while ago, and I have to look for team Plasma in the desert ruins. Im not really too worried about going through the whole game super quick, im just taking it easy, playing for a few hours every day or so. Collecting everything I can and talking to everyone I can. I noticed the black and white seem a lot harder then older pokemon games too, it might just be me but some fights actually give me trouble.

Heres my team as of right now, they are all in the 40's range, and Im in the process of levelling them all to 46

Right to left: Zebstrika, Stoutland, Unfezant , Whimsicott (fluffee) and Serperior (Allen)

Im in god damn love with Whimsicott right now, its ability and speed allows it to leach seed right at the start of the fight. Its a god damn wall, especially with Cotton Guard. its also my favourite pokemon so far this generation, Its so god damn cute. I mean look at that fluffy bastard.

Something has caught me off guard though. Normally Im quite quick to swap out pokemon as I see fit, but I've had all of these bastards as soon as they where avalible to me. Zebstrika started out as a level 10 Blitzle I found on route 10, Stoutland started out as a level 4 Lilipup on route 4, Unfezant was level 13 when I caught it as a pidove on Route 3, Whimsicott I got in an in-game trade at level 15 and of course I started with Serperiors first evolve, Snivy.
The 6th slot in my party is reserved for the HM whore Im using at the time, but remains empty when I don't really need one. when I hit the E4 I'll train something up to fill in that gap.

I have to say, so far Im fucking amazed at the quality of this game. You can tell a great deal of time and effort went into the development, its a god damn blast, the graphics are amazing and the story is actually good.

I'll probably post more blogs about pokemon white later, I don't really have much else to talk about anyway, and im sure I'll always be able to say something about this game.

I hope you've found some resemblance of entertainment from this short ramble, and I hope to see you again soon. If you've been playing this game, tell me what you think and what you're using right now.

Earthquake.

Although it doesn't affect me, my family or any of my friends. I would still like to wish everyone who has had loss because of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami my condolences, and I hope they are able to recover as much as possible, as soon as possible.

Its easy to forget bad things that happen around the world when they don't affect you. But if you have the means or inclination I would implore you to donate to the Red Cross earthquake appeal. If you can't swing that, perhaps   you could spread the word instead, knowledge can be just as good as money at times.

Dragon Rage 2.

Gurl Hawke
Well bloody hell, would you look at that. 21 hours into pokemon and I've still got more dragon age 2 to play. I just want to talk briefly about the changes.

Dragon age 2 is infact, for all intents and purposes, the dragon age origins sequel. Although at first glance you wont know this. Fuck, at first hour of actual gameplay, you wont know this. The game has been changed up so much that its lost all feel of a dragon age game.

You play as Hawke, and your home in Fereldon or something went bye-bye because of the horde of dark spawn, or something like that. To be honest I don't really care. That's the whole game really, a series of things that happen that you wont care about. If you think of the game as dragon age, I dare say you probably won't enjoy it.

It does have some redeeming points though. Combat can be a bunch of fun at times and the graphics set to high with directx 11 and the high resolution texture pack, look quite nice. But there is one thing, one thing that Ruffles my jimmy's.

As this game is actually set after the events of origins, some characters make a return, like Flemmeth for example (dispite the fact I killed her old dragon ass.)
Don't get me wrong, she looks fucking cool and what-not, but its just so different.
Flemmeth

The game is alright, and that's all it really is. it has obvious signs of being rushed, but for what its worth its a few hours of fun, if you can over look the fact it feels nothing like dragon age. And don't EVEN get me started on Morrigan, I mean, LOOK AT HER.

Im not your all knowing god, bro!

Just because I spend alot of time on the computer, doesn't mean I know how to burn DVDs using a very specific program and settings.

Just because I built a computer, doesn't mean I can fix all of your hardware issues, like your god damn power supply exploding.

Just because I USE facebook, doesn't mean I wan't to become your neighbour on every stupid game you play on it.

Just because I have an anti virus  doesn't mean I want to fix your porn filled laptop, every single week, EVEN FUCKING AFTER you purposely uninstalled the fucking anti virus Installed because "it was poping up about  worms and shit"

I know i've been guilty of this, many times i've gone to my friend Danny asking him about something I had no clue about. Thats cool fine and dandy, he doesn't mind because I don't ask every single week, and I made effort to do it myself beforehand. And don't get me wrong, I don't mind when my friends ask for help, fucking hell, even if my friends asked for help every day I wouldn't mind, because my friends aren't stupid about asking.

But when 9,000,000 family members come over, to ask for my help, or my dads help, and then don't take any of my advice.

T H A T
R U F F L E S
M Y

J I M M Y S.

I also hate it when my dad says "Sure, I'll fix your 8 year old laptop, with 5125 hours of HD porn on it, with the virus to boot" Then when the time comes to follow through on his word, he gets me to fucking do it. And Im a pussy I'll ALWAYS say yes.
I know im really coming off as an asshole, but im sure you can understand somewhat.

Anyway, sorry for the late/short blog, if you even care. I've been playing pokemon like nobody's business.

Got an Isshu?

Whimsicott
I piked up my copy of Pokemon White yesterday (The 8th) and I thought I would give my first impressions of the game. The game follows the standard Pokemon RPG formula, Get your starter, get some more, battle, gym, catch, battle etc etc, but this time there is many noticeable changes. The game this time around is a lot more story heavy. The bad guys, Team Plasma have noble reasons for what they are doing - unlike in other Pokemon games, where the main antagonists just wanted all of teh epic pokemans.

You'll also notice the graphics have been given quite a huge update, in-battle sprites are animated and look great, battles no longer look like you're fighting with still images. There is a whole mess of new moves, as well as old ones and all the pokemon you meet until the end of the game are brand new.

Although with this many Pokemon, designs start to get a little weird.

Take this one for Example. This fucker is 041 of the new dex, Tympole.
You may be thinking right now "WHAT THE HOLY FUCK?!" And quite frankly I don't blame you. Thankfully this is the only one of the designs that is truly THIS bad, but there is some others that aren't so flash hot.

I thought to myself "Maybe its just because I've got so much nostalgia for the old Pokemon, the new ones seem a bit weird" yeah thats all fine and good, and then you see some awesome looking pokemon like Whimsicott (above), and Zebstrika (below).

Zebstrika

But wait, that's not all! Before Pokemon black and white, my favourite regions where probably Johto and Hoenn, then the rest. Now its probably Unova (isshu) Johto, Hoenn and the rest. The new region is packed full of stuff to see and do, it looks great and its huge. Each of the game has an exclusive city, and one city that changes based on the game.

I could keep talking about this game for ages and ages, but frankly I just want to get back to playing it, If you've been thinking about getting it, get it. If you've never played a pokemon game in your life, this might not be the best one to start with, but may still be worth checking out. And if you've already got it stop reading this and go play it!

The Tube.

With what seems like an endless amount of content on youtube, it can sometimes be hard to find the best people to subscribe to. I have had my account on youtube since mid 2005, I have over 320 unique subscriptions that I watch regularly, so I thought maybe I would share with you some of my favourites.
But before I begin, please keep in mind this isn't my "top 10" this just a list of 10 of my subscriptions, that I like the most.

  1. 13Mordeth - Hes a man from Canada who has been living in Taiwan for 20+ years. His vlogs are done while he rides one of his various motorcycle/scooters around the beautiful hills of Taiwan, or the cities. All of his vlogs, even the serious ones are funny and you'd be wise to check him out.

  2. Blunty3000 - An Australian from Sydney. All things tech and gaming related go here, he talks about all sorts of latest technologies and conventions. His personality is great and he's a genuinely nice guy. Subscribing to him is doubly beneficial if you're Australian yourself, or you have an interest in what's going on in Australia in regards to technology.

  3. Boogie2988 - This guy is amazing. He has had such a hard life and still manages to be upbeat and hilarious. his content consists of vlogs and skits. He has two characters he uses, both with hugely different personalities. Hes a really sweet guy and deserves every view he gets.

  4. brentalfloss - A comedic song writer. He ads lyrics to classic game themes, and makes them helarious. He also does other things like an ongoing tutorial to writing your own lyrics.

  5. freddiew - interesting and often funny skits done with amazing special effects. The main focus of this channel is to show off special effects, of course, but the skits them selves are awesome!

  6. frezned - A vlogger from Geelong, Victoria. Known for his fast talking, he's worth checking out, if only to get a laugh.

  7. smosh - Surely everyone has heard of Smosh, but if not, here you go! Ian and Anthony are two friends who do videos together every week. Really funny and really cleaver. Soon after watching just a few of their videos you'll find yourself wanting more and more.

  8. megwin - A Japanese man who makes videos seemingly everyday. Although his videos are in Japanese, you can still work out the basic gist of his videos. It makes me laugh every single time because of his body language. Some English is in the videos in the form of title cards that certainly helps in understanding what's going on, but for the most part you wont. Worth checking out, but I would understand if you would rather not. Here's a video though - This is the one that got me hooked.

  9. wheezywaiter - You may have heard of Wheezy by now, hes becoming quite popular. A man from Chicargo in the US, who does Daily comedic vlogs. His channel has many inside jokes that long term viewers will understand, and new viewers will learn over time (or right away if you go back and watch some of his older vlogs) He's really quite funny and one of my  favourites. He also loves it when the coffee is done.

  10. last but not least; garishyellowshirt - Probably one of the best on youtube, but highly under appreciated. Vlogs about books, TV, science. With slight comedic undertone. I've been subscribed to this good man for almost the entire duration of his youtube account, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Well, That was my list of some of my favourites on youtube. Of course I have more, but I feel like these top 10 pretty much round up nice and perfectly the ones I most want to share. In the comments, tell me if you've watched any of these guys before, and maybe leave a recommendation on another youtuber. I hope atleast some of you gain some entertainment form them, and maybe find a new tuber you like.

Weekend adventure!

This past weekend I attended Armageddon. a pop culture convention. This year
marks the first year my humble state of Adelaide gets privilege to it, and boy did it make an impression. From the events to the guests, and even the super adorable girl at the Critical Hit booth, dressed as Yoko from Gurran Lagen, there was something

there for everyone.

It was unfortunate I left my camera in the car, and didn't realize until I went to take my first picture of the day. Its a real shame, but I suppose getting to enjoy the day without pictures is better then not being able to have gone at all.

The even started at 9am, the usual time for such conventions. The line at the ticket booth was almost non existant, although the line to get in must have been the length of Satan's junk. Tickets where 20 dollars for an adult day pass. Im not sure about American conventions, but in Australia that price isn't completely uncommon.

The character the girl was cosplaying
After getting in, armed with nothing but 100 dollars I got to work. I was immediately drawn to the Stand for criticalhit.com.au, a new start up site that sell anime/mechanise and video games online and at conventions. The reason for this was the super amazing adorable as hell girl that was at the stand. A cosplaying godess as she where, sporting the the outfit of Yoko For Gurren Lagann. She had the Gun, The pants the boobs, the lot!
If only I had my camera T__T;

After making my way around some more, I found my usual favourites, the madman stand for instance, 10 dollar manga? Im so totally there man.
There's also this company that are ALWAYS at conventions that sell DVDs and Manga for 5 dollars each. needless to say I managed to snag the whole second season of Black Lagoon and some other goodies.

After awhile I wondered into another stand, that was previously inaccessible to me, because of the crowed. There, I found the crown jewl of the day. the fucking magnum opus of the whole day.

I found, "The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of seasons" Manga. Now, you have to focus really hard this moment. Think back to yesterdays post, the super long one about the game. Focus all your energy into how many bricks came out of my butt, right there on the show floor. I provided the builders union of Australia enough bricks to last them 40 odd years.
The source of my brick shitting abilities

I HAD to have it, I absolutely could not leave without it. I paid the good man the 15 dollars for it and was ready to start reading it that VERY moment. Alas I was still at the convention, and had to wait until I got home. Its sitting right next to me as I type this, staring me down, asking me why I haven't read it yet. The answer to that being I also got alot of other manga and anime, and Im saving the very best to last.

From what I've gotten from it though, it follows the story of the game, right down to the epic battle with Onox right at the end. Its a single volume manga too, so I wont have to go out hunting for more volumes after.

So that was my day yesterday (the 5th). Full of fun, and excitement, many loots where gained and many laughs where had.

I saw this guy walking around quite a bit at the convention, taking interviews and video and what not. This is only part one of, what I assume many parts of the video.

Great day, and I can't wait to attend Armageddon again next month at the Melbourne entertainment centre.

it's a secret to everybody

When you think of The legend of Zelda, what do you think of?
Maybe you think of Ocarina of time. That's a fan favourite right? Maybe you think about Majora's mask, links awakening or maybe even wind waker.

All of those are great games, each of them have something that makes them stand out from the other games. A fresh new adventure, one with a boat, one with multiple masks that make you transform one that even lets you control time. But how many of you think of Oracle of Seasons?

The Legend of Zelda Oracle of seasons is having its 10th birthday this year. It came out for the gameboy colour way back in 2001. Although If you played it on the gameboy advance it would unlock new items for you.

The game opens up with Link, riding his trusty horse toward a castle. When he enters, he's teleported  by the triforce to defend the land of Holodrum from the not so nice General Onox.

Link wakes up in a strange field within earshot of music. Of course he's checking that shit out, Link never misses a party. Upon arriving he finds a whole heap of people playing instruments and dancing, and meets a sexy redhead named Din. While the game its self never says, its speculated among fans that this Din is the incarnate form of the Goddess of fire, Din.  Since Zelda games are all set in alternate time lines, except Wind Waker and the DS games, this is plausible and probably for the best to keep thinking of it this way.

So Din and Link dance around for awhile, having a gay old time, then in typical fantasy RPG fashion, disaster strikes! The sky darkens, Onox and his minions kidnap Din and take her to his Mountain fortress, trapping her in a crystal.
Needless to say all hell breaks loose. The temple of seasons falls to earth and everything becomes screwy. Thus begins your adventure to save Din and put the natural order of things back to how it was!

The game really sticks out in my mind for a number of reasons. You gain the ability to change the seasons, as the name suggests. Depending on the season, you're able to reach new areas, items, people and complete quests. Some people will only talk to you in some weather. Some items are only usable in some seasons. The game has a large amount of items and things to keep you playing for days and days and days.

As far as mounts go, wooo-weee this game excels. All Zelda fans know about Epona, Links trusty steed he rides into heated battles. Well yes, thats all well and good, but we're not in Hyrule anymore ! Link has the choice between 3 mounts in this game, Ricky, Moosh and Dimitry. Amazing super dooper special outstanding mounts that will stay in your mind LONG after you've finished the game. Each of the mounts has an ability and is useful for getting to new areas and finding new things. The first of the mounts is a Big blue bear, Moosh. He can fly for short amounts of time and is so bloody sweet I got diabetes.

Ricky, the second the mounts is a god damn kangaroo with boxing gloves. His abilites allow you to take out lage amount of enemys and kick some major ass. Hes a pretty chill doood. Since hes a huge bouncy asshole, he can also jump over holes and whatnot, to unlock new areas.

The last is Dimitri. A red dodongo. Dimitri is like that guy nobody really likes, but is useful sometimes and grows on you. He can climb up waterfalls and swim, thus unlocking new areas. He can also eat enemy's and shit. When you get the power bracelet, you can pick his red ass up and throw him around like a little bitch.

All of the animal companions have something about them that make them unique and nice. Even if Moosh is the only one you REALLY need because of how bad-ass he is, they all have a special place in my dull, dried up heart.

In terms of items, I could go on for hours. You've got the usual afair, Sling shots, Swords, shields and what not. The catch in this game is you can only equip two things at once, that keybind to A and B. So that means if you want your Sword and Shield out, you can't use anything else at the same time. This game has some "FULLEH SICK AS ITEMS BRU" as my dear childhood friend would say. You later gain the ability to jump through the use of an item. That's fucking cool.

The bosses in this game are interesting. There are 13 bosses all together, and many of them have a hint of familiarity about them.
For instance.

This here, is Aquamentus. He is the badass mother fucker boss of the first temple, in the very first zelda game.

And this here is Aquamentus, the first boss from Oracal of Seasons.

A few of the bosses are like this. Dodongo, Gohma, Mothula, Medusa and geelock. Thats more then a few actually, thats 5 out of 9 of the original bosses that show up in Seasons, Thats kind of cool.
Don't expect to be fighting Ganon at the end of Seasons though, no no.

At the same time The legend of Zelda: Oracle of seasons came out, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, also came out. And while the stories are different, and are based on different gimmicks. If played together they form a new ending to both games. An ending where Ganon can be defeated, and ultimate peace gained.

When I was a young lad, I never knew anyone who had Ages, and while I was having fun coming out of my butt playing Ages, I never got to experiance the ultimate thrill of that special ending. The ultimate glory of downing Ganon with my friend.

I could talk about this game for hours and hours. And already this post seems too big. But I just wanted to talk about a game that's really stuck in my mind. All of the interesting characters, missions, items and environments, all of them make up one fantastic game and if  you've yet to play it, I highly recommend you get one.

Happy birthday Oracle of seasons.

Well well well, somebody wants to play.

Hi, hello, G'day!

If you're reading this you've probably wondered onto this fine specimen of a blog by mistake. Its either that or you're a friend of mine, and I sent you the link over and over and over, until you finally caved in and told me I was fantastic.

I just wanted to introduce myself somewhat, maybe give you some idea of the short of crap I'll be bloggen aboot. My name is Adam Simmonds (Although I like to by Christopher ((my middle name)) from time to time), I'm from South Australia and I'm quite partial to video games, collecting (Special editions, figures, tins, cards, statues etc etc), anime & manga. My spelling and grammar are that of a 5 year old autistic kid but despite that I love writing. I've written several short stories that i'll never share with anyone ever, and im in the process of writing another (maybe I'll share this one here)

If you haven't guessed by now, my blogs will probably just be about Video games and Anime, although when I go to conventions I'll probably talk about that some. I will also probably do reviews from time to time and other crap like that.

Well, that just about raps it up. If you're still remotely interested in anything I've got to say after that rambley mess of text, I suggest you seek medical advice, and then after that hit the follow button.

See ya', Goodbye, Ciao.
